There is a certain purity in beauty. Authenticity, straight from the heart, which we always want to express in our designs. This is why we consistently manufacture all our luminaires using pure materials. We mainly use brass because it is a valuable material with special properties that lends itself perfectly to forging, but we also use bronze, copper, aluminium and glass. To develop our luminaires, we resolutely opt for one eclectic approach: we combine strong, traditional methods with timeless character. A successful recipe that radiates simplicity, functionality and elegance. Our lighting is therefore exactly what it should be: minimal, yet expansive at the same time. Present, but not intrusive. Stubborn and contrary to numerous extravagant designs.
How it all started
Behind every strong brand is a strong team. Tekna was founded by Erik Huysmans. He was the man who created the renowned Nautic brand in the early nineties. His years of experience as a distributor for Concord Lighting (UK) gave him the ideas and technical expertise to make Tekna a success story. And this is how the first Tekna collection, namely Nautic was born in 1991. It was an immediate hit, thanks to its pure and elegant design. Flatspot was launched in 2009. Since then, Tekna has continued to innovate and become a true pioneer in the lighting world.
In 2017, the Blijweert family took over and launched the latest Arton collection. With a passion for the artisan, which at Tekna is characterised by excellent quality and authentic designs, they put their back into ensuring Tekna became the successful company it has become. They are convinced that Tekna can broaden its offer and achieve even more by maximising its strengths.

Our strengths
Our house stands for pure professionalism and is committed to craftsmanship. This was as true when Tekna was founded in the 1990s as it is today. At the same time, we want our market profile to reflect that we are a brand that evolves with current technology and actively works on contemporary designs. For this, we count on our in-house designer, Kevin De Koning, while also working very closely with top designers who know better than anyone how to work exclusively and creatively without losing sight of Tekna's core values.
We consciously choose to work with valuable brass, a very rewarding and fine material that forms the basis of our excellent, authentic products. To convert design into reality, we rely on professionals who apply the greatest care and finesse in their work. They are always investigating methods for streamlining, improving, and increasing user-friendliness, etc.

Thanks to our technical knowledge and high demands, we view lighting in a totally different way. At Tekna, a luminaire must first be completely correct at the production and aesthetic level before we even begin to start looking at functionality. We carefully consider the overall picture.
In addition to achieving timeless designs that are full of character, we also attach great importance to personal contact with our customers. Trade exhibitions such as Maison & Objet, Light & building, Euroluce Italy and Light Middle East are the ideal opportunity to bring our designs to customers and to inspire them. We enjoy presenting our newest luminaires to our customers at these special shows and giving them personal advice or information. By continuing to stand with two feet in the market, we continue to evolve. As a result, we are “always the first who’s next”.

With Belgian design through and through, Tekna is appreciated internationally. Our lighting can be spotted around the world where it is used as functional lighting in stores, decorative lighting in hotel rooms and lobbies, as well as atmospheric outdoor lighting on a terrace or swimming pool. Tekna collections can be used anywhere.
